Kim Grey Marine provides a customised professional hands on experience to assist clients with their IMS, Bio-fouling and Marine Biologicial needs.

BIOFOULING inspections (DoF WA registered)

I am an independent marine Biofouling Inspector registered with the Department of Fisheries Western Australia & work with government & private industry. Vessels are inspected within Australia & overseas to check all Wetsides Niches for Invasive Marine Species (IMS) being Internal & External biofouling niches on vessels.


As a registered inspector I have the authority to examine your vessel and ensure you meet all National Biofouling Guidelines to meet the requirements for Australia’s National Biofouling Management Guidance for the Petroleum Exploration and Production Industry. The Department of Fisheries WA ‘Vessel Check’ Assessment Tool can be used for a RISK rating which complies with the WA Fish Resources Management Act 1994 (FRMA) & Regulations.


In addition any project requirements will be followed to achieve Quarantine Compliance for your vessel Wetsides to enter Australia or remain in Australia to all Department of Agriculture & Water Resource Regulations.

IMS risk assessments

IMS Inspections can be done in-water or in dry-dock & have been done in such locations as; Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Northen & Southern China, Middle east, South Africa as well as ports in Australia being Albany, Fremantle, Dampier, Exmouth, Broome & Darwin.


Projects worked on recently being for the clients; Chevron Gorgon, Chevron Wheatstone, Inpex, Woodside, Shell Prelude & Conoco Phillips.


In addition I have been heavily involved with IMS in the north west of WA conducting surveys of jack up rigs, dredges, barges, tugs, platform support vessels & seismic survey vessels all servicing the coastal ports. The projects being Woodside Scott Reef, Chevron Gorgon, Chevron Wheatstone & local capital expansion projects for Rio Tinto, Dampier & Port Hedland Port Authorities.

INTERNATIONAL marine biological services

Kim Grey Marine can mobilise within Australia or overseas for IMS Inspections or general marine biological investigations such as coral or water quality surveys or specific IMS Vessel Inspections.

CONTRACT marine biologist

I was based in Karratha for 4 years in the Pilbara region of WA & have been involved in extensive surveys around Dampier marine facilities being; Woodside, Rio Tinto & Dampier Port Authority to focus on Invasive Marine Species.


Kim Grey Marine also contracted to BHP & Port Hedland Port Authority to monitor corals, water quality & data collection from insitu buoys in harbours & offshore. Corals were monitored during construction & dredging for approximately 2 years for the Woodside Pluto project at Dampier.

JET BOAT 2C for charter

Kim Grey Marine operates a 10m jet boat (SJA) with a 2C survey which is set up for scientific survey work such as dive surveys and general sample collection. This vessel is on a trailer and can be transported to northern or southern locations in Western Australia or interstate.

The multi-purpose commerical vessel can be mobilised to site by road.

1 Crew + 7 Passengers

Ability to 8 seated people eg team, executives or visitors aboard.

Long range

With 1,000 litre fuel tank the vessel is capable of travelling 800 nautical miles

National Qualification System: Advanced Scuba Diver and Dive Master. Awarded the Royal Life Saving Sub-Aqua Bronze Medallion and Resuscitation Certificate (Scuba Diver rescue and resuscitation), 1987, 1982.

New Zealand Underwater Association: Advanced Diver, 1983.

Australian National Qualification System: Assistant Scuba diving instructor, 1983.

MASTER 4 skipper contractor

Master Class 4 (Unrestricted) Ticket: which allows me to command vessels up to 34.0 m in length, 500 nautical miles from the coast, 1986.

Certificate of Local Knowledge, Fremantle Port Authority, 1992. • Vast experience in skippering small & large commercial vessels for marine surveys.
